Has anyone used the Language Lessons 3 by Jessie Wise? There is a 4th grade coming out and I am thinking of using it? I currently use Abeka. I would like to know what you think of it. Thanks, Laura
Hi Laura, I am currently using First Language Lessons 3 with my fifth child. I can honestly say that this is the best grammar program I have ever used for this level. I love it; my son understands it, and he actually requests to do it before other subjects. She gives the clearest explanation of diagramming that I have ever seen. The review is built in, and is frequent enough to be effective, but infrequent enough to avoid monotony. There are other necessary items in the program besides grammar (i.e.-dictionary skills, poetry memorization, some review of spelling rules,etc.). I have gotten 4 other families started on FLL3 and they are all singing its praises.
I was priveledged to hear Jessie Wise speak recently at our homeschool conference. Her sweet nature, understanding of children and the way they learn, and her uncompromising standards of excellence impressed me greatly.
I plan to order First Language Lessons 4 for my son, and continue with this series for my two youngest children.
