Hi Ellen,

I think I can clear this up for you.

We have purchased only the Easy Grammar books for our 5th grader in the past. It has the teacher notes and worksheets with answers filled in on the left-hand side of each 2 page spread. The right is a worksheet for the student. We originally used clear overhead sheets (the word for those just escaped me) for her to write and wipe away her answers with a dry-erase marker. That became cumbersome, so now we just keep a piece of black construction paper as our bookmark which covers the teacher's notes. Ideally, I am sitting with her to hear her answers and go over any concepts she's not grasping readily. Some days she writes out her answers on notebook paper and then checks them herself or with me.

The workbooks have only the student worksheets. If you go with this option, you'll have a permanent record. Not our goal with the grammar study, so it didn't seem necessary.

You would need either 1 of the $33 book or it PLUS two of the $14 workbooks.

Take care,
wendy

Great, Thanks Wendy. Now I understand. I will probably get the book with the teacher's notes plus 2 workbooks since I have other students coming up in the ranks. That way my teacher's book won't be all marked up when it's time for my younger students to use the book too.

Grace & Peace,
Ellen

The first yr. we used EG we only purchased the TE and I made copies of the student pgs since I'd have other children using it later. We decided to go ahead and get ea. child his own workbook this yr 1) the cost of printing wasn't worth it, and 2) we have our children's work assessed every yr. - this was an easy way to keep their grammar work together.
