I am starting to HS my Kinder. boy (oldest DC) this year. I have fallen in love with TOG so far and want to begin now. I know that lower grammar is supposed to be grades 1-3 so I worry that this may be too much for him. If I waited to start until 1st grade would he benefit more by being able to do more of the work?

For those that have been there, done that, will it just be too much for him to do now? Is there a better year to start using for K than Year 1? (Ex. I see another year starts with knights, etc. which he loves right now!)

Thanks for all advice!!!

Hi, I started in K about 5 years ago. It was so fun. We started with Yr 1. My daughter did a lot of hands-on projects, and I read any books that I thought she would enjoy aloud to her. We measured the ark in the backyard, made Egyptian wigs, ate Jewish food, created a pyramid out of sugar cubes, etc. TOG was the icing on the cake after we finished the 3 R's. HTH!!

My youngest has been in K this year and I used TOG with him. Each day we did a different aspect, Read and discuss history together on day 1, geography on day 2, literature on day 3, church history on day 4, and he did crafts with his 13 yo brother while I had discussions with ds15. I incorporated copy work to help remember the people to know, just a short sentence about the person. Very low key.
