I am bringing this up again because I was unable to find a 1950's dictionary, as was recommended earlier.

So here is the question again -- does anyone have a specific recommendation for a children's dictionary that will cover the words in TOG, yet with definitions simple enough for a LG child?

Thanks!

I highly recommend the Merriam-Webster Children's Dictionary. I have Redesigned Year 1, and for week 1, this dictionary has all 25 of the LG words except for shaduf, and all 24 of the UG words except for kohl, ochre, and catch-basin. (Yes, I really looked them all up! Wink)

My kids love this dictionary. It has large print, lots of pictures, and almost any word they need (32,000 entries and over 3000 illustrations). My 6th grader last year was still trying to use this dictionary, despite my repeatedly telling him he had outgrown this one! Roll Eyes

Thank you so much! This is just the sort of help I needed.
