A question on the DK Children's Illustrated Bible. Are there LG questions specific to this exact text, or would another fairly complete children's Bible work? We already have Egermeier's Bible Story Book which is very detailed, considering it's still a children's paraphrase. I want to get the DK Bible at some point but am trying to keep costs down. My priority this year is to find a Bible my wiggly 4 y/o will appreciate -- Egermeier's is too difficult, Beginner Bible too easy.
I'm also wondering how many more children's bibles I need to buy to be considered a collector? LOL! (We have 3-4 already!) So ... would Egermeier's work for 1st grade dd in the TOG worldview topics? Or does anyone recommend the DK Bible for a wiggly 4 y/o? Thanks! |

Hello!
Substitute any children's Bible which contains the basic Bible stories -- in other words, just about anything you have on your shelves now would work. Perhaps your wiggly 4 yo would listen while coloring (or scribbling Blessings, Monica "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Don't buy another one. You just need access to stories. I bot the DK one from the library and didn't like it. As long as you have a good source for the Old Testament events, you don't need to purchase the DK Bible.

I used the Egermeier's Bible Story Book this past year for TOG Year 1, and it worked great. You may find that after a little practice your 4 year old can enjoy these stories, too.

Thanks for the advice and the tip about the links. Currently the Calvary Chapel links aren't working - not sure why. But the other coloring pages will definitely be helpful! I forgot to mention that we're already reading through Egermeier's this year w/a different curriculum. I've actually had to schedule Bible reading during breakfast just to give 4y/o something to DO while we're reading. Just sitting and listening to those stories, while not doing anything else, is sheer torture for her, to the point of her sincerely begging, "No, PLEASE, Mommy, no more Bible stories today!!" (My almost 6y/o loves it.) It's a wonderful Bible but just not geared for my preschooler. Think we may try the Family Time Bible instead, for her. Glad to know i can keep using Egermeier's for my older dd w/TOG.

I have 2 bibles to suggest on this level, as I have been extremely dissappointed with the bibles out there...
