Just a note to say we had a good discussion on Animal Farm today in our on-line co-op. As the discussion leader, I really appreciated learning about satire and allegory with this book. I thought the discussion about content and form and meaning through form and form follows function were quite well done. I feel that I have a better understanding of those concepts now. Those terms are easier to understand with an accessible allegory like Animal Farm.

It is always fun to hear the students tell about what they noticed in the story and if they like the story or not. Interestingly, all the boys in our group liked Animal Farm a lot, while the girls were less enthusiastic. But they all had comments on which scenes and artistic elements were most meaningful to them.

Next week, Metamorphosis! I am sure I will once again learn tons!
