Can anyone tell me when the rest of the loom lit documents for year 4 will be available? I have tried to keep up with all the changes and dates but maybe I missed this info somewhere. I have read everything that is there and am working on planning, but I think I need to see some of those documents before I can put together my final plans.
Thanks so much....this is our first year at the rhetoric level and we just love what we're seeing!

I realize the start date is August 24, but I am also wondering when the other literature documents will be available.

Thanks!

Hi ladies! Poetics is already up with just about everything needed for Y4 Unit 1 (though that's not an invitation to print it yet, because we will be revising and adding to it throughout the year!).

Frameworks will be going up around August 19th or sooner (God willing---please pray!), and it will be current for at least the first unit if not the first two units. For those who are eagerly awaiting Frameworks, please be advised that we're only adding about 10-15 pages on Modernism to the main body of the document for ALL of Y4 Units 1-2, so it's really very little to read as you get ready for your year---it's just been a huge amount to research! Would you believe that I've spent six months preparing to write those fifteen pages? ;-)

I will also be updating Poetics during that same week in August so that it covers everything in the second unit as well as the first unit. In the past we have only been able to post Poetics and Frameworks articles week-by-week as you need them, so I'm really excited that it looks like we will have half the school year up before you even start---yay! Also, don't worry---the Loom Reading Assignments Chart will be up in time for the supported start date, so your students will know which Poetics and Frameworks articles to read for which weeks. :-D

Please let me know if you have any more questions, and please pray for me as I try to complete Unit 2 class plans and Poetics/Frameworks for Units 1-2 at the same time!

Christy,

Thank you for all your efforts. We will continue to pray for you. It is such a blessing to get assignments for the entire unit in advance, rather than week by week. We are very grateful!!

Due to some scheduling constraints and a desire to complete units 1 and 2 before Christmas, we need to begin Y4U1 two weeks before the official support date. If it doesn't take away from your progress, would it be possible to provide reading assignments for the first 2 weeks of Poetics and/or any other documents you have completed so far? We wanted to wait to begin on Aug. 24, but there are just not enough weeks to complete all of the material with that late of a start. Rather than skip or combine weeks, we opted to start a bit early and do the best we can to support our students until all of the supplements are completed. I realize this is our choice and we will be content either way. I just wanted to ask in case it was an easy request and something you were able to offer. If not, we'll be very thankful the day you're ready!

We are so excited about the new year! Thank you for all the many ways you care for us and support us on this journey. The documents, teacher notes and introductions for Y4 have been a tremendous blessing to me as we prepare for this year.

Blessings,
Eia

Thank you for your encouragement, Eia, and even more for your graciousness and humility. They are beautiful to me! As far as the LRAC (Loom Reading Assigments Chart) goes, it is already drafted, but the sticky thing is that titles in Poetics/Frameworks keep changing and shifting right up to the last minute as we write new articles, so it's hard to keep the LRAC stable until Poetics/Frameworks are done (and it would be much worse if we were trying to do page numbers!). If you were with us for Year 3, you might remember how the LRAC changed from week to week as we posted new articles.

This means that I absolutely cannot make any promises about having Poetics/Frameworks complete enough to post the LRAC within the time frame you mentioned. However, there is also a pretty decent chance that it will be done earlier than the date I mentioned, because there is relatively little to write and insert. I guess all this adds up to a big fat "MAYBE, can't promise, but I hope!"

Also, in case it doesn't work out that way, I want you to know that at least for Poetics it should be pretty easy for you to figure out which articles to assign the students based on what you see they will need to know about in the Teacher's Notes. So if you are in a co-op and it's getting down to start day, you might task one of your moms to work out from the Teacher's Notes what parts of Poetics will need to be read for just the first two weeks only. After that our LRAC will be up (God willing!) and you won't need to think about it any more. :-)

Hope this helps! GOD BLESS YOU!!!

Christy

Christy,

Thank you for taking the time to reply and for your encouraging tips. I'll gladly take a "maybe" for having things ready in time for our early start, but completely understand the challenges you face and will be praying for you. I just wasn't sure how the development process worked for you and thought maybe you could reveal the beginning while you wrap up the end of the document. Now I can see why that wouldn't work for you, but thought it was worth a shot Smiler

This is our first year with Rhetoric students, so we are reading everything in site to get ourselves ready to launch. Although there are a lot of pieces to the puzzle, I am feeling very peaceful about all of it and know that God will guide us through this adventure. I'm also quite thankful we have you along for the ride!

Your suggestions about figuring out which article to read based on the Teacher Notes is very reasonable and should serve our purposes well, if the documents are not available ahead of the schedule. Thank you for your kindness to all of us and your cheerful heart when we bug you about every detail in the process. Your gracious spirit is a beautiful example for all of us.

We're praying for all of you. Thank you!
Eia

Eia, I just wanted to let you know that, by the extraordinary grace of God, Frameworks and the Loom Reading Assignments Chart for Unit 1 are posted. :-) That should solve your co-op's "starting early" problem! I was thinking of you while I was working to get it done, and I'm so glad to be able to offer it to you now! Please note that in just a few weeks I will be revising these docs for Unit 2, so I wouldn't print Frameworks... but Poetics is done up through Unit 2 and you should have everything you need for the first unit. :-D

So grateful to God, and so grateful for you!

Dear Christy,

Thank you! Thank you! We actually started two weeks ago, but this upcoming week was the first one we really needed Frameworks (for modernism). I'd been praying that you all would be able to post things earlier than you anticipated. Smiler

Thanks again from someone besides Eia!

WOW! I'm so excited. Thank you for caring for us and making the extra effort to accommodate those of us starting a bit early this year. I'm glad this blessing helps others too! Thank you seems such a small way to express my appreciation to you. I am so excited to share this news with our group!

Question for Christy -
We spoke on the phone a couple weeks ago and I was advised to not print out anything beyond wk. 3, which we're doing next week (9/8).

Will it be okay to go ahead and print up the rest of the unit, perhaps even early next week? Or should I only do another 3 weeks? Or should I wait until the weekend before wk. 4 starts (9/14)?

I am loving this year of TOG!! My 2 R boys are showing real interest and are seeming more "comfortable" with this level. I have especially stressed the need to stay on top of P and F assignments - so far so good! Thank you SO MUCH for all of your hard work.

Laurie
