Regarding the post in General News entitled "New Toys for Us! Yay!"....

one could easily add the images to their signature by either with outside image hosting and/or linking using the code provided

HOWEVER---

as permissions are currently set, adding HTML isn't allowed in signature files (at least not *mine* LOL)

If there is a way to raise the permissions settings to allow forum users to add this type of thing (HTML coding) to their signatures then it would be doable, otherwise it would probably need to be handled case-by-case... and I'm sure ya'll at TOG don't have time to do THAT. Wink

anyway, maybe i'm wrong... but that is how it came across to me when i tested the coding provided by putting it into my signature. I've since removed said coding since it wasn't working, but would welcome the opportunity to add it back in should permissions be granted to do so!!

***Edited to add: I have added the mouseover TOG3 button to my blog, though! Right hand sidebar, should you want to see it in action! Big Grin

HTML is blocked by design. Unfortunately, someone can do bad things with HTML that will gum up the works.

However, to put a picture (which won't link anywhere) in your post, click the picture button (second button from the right) when you start a new message. Then put the URL of the image in the box and click OK.

I haven't dug around the settings in Groupee in awhile, but there probably are size limitations set somewhere.

The problem with pictures is that it costs Lampstand Press more in bandwidth fees the more that the pictures are displayed and viewed on the forum.

Trying this as an image inside the post itself this time (instead of being in the signature)

I hear ya on the bandwidth thing, which costs money, so it doesn't seem like a very wise thing to even allow forum posters to add images, given the current state of affairs, ya know. (save money where one can and all!)

but here's trying it ....

***Edited to add: well that was fun. LOL Won't be doing that again anytime soon, as I feel like it would be better to be a good steward at the TOG forums. but thanks for pointing out that method of doing it!

I think you win, Navy Wife. :-) TOGtechie points for you!

Oops, I guess I should have checked with Ray about bandwidth before suggesting that everybody use images on their forum posts. I guess I was carried away by my enthusiasm---sorry Ray! I won't use it in my forum posts. Emails, facebook, and AIM are still fair game though, right? :-D
