I used to use IE on both my pc and my laptop but I was having problems on my laptop with DE. Thanks to Ray, those problems completely disappeared once he helped me download Firefox. (Yippee!!!)
Now I have a really petty, almost insignificant, question. How can I get the little house/tree icons that appear in the far left column of the main page on the forum to light up only when there something new has been posted since my last visit? On my IE-using pc, they still work like they always did. On my DE-friendly-Firefox-using laptop, they light up when something new has been posted and have stayed lit ever since Firefox came to live in the laptop. Now, nearly every single topic has the icon lit even if nothing new has appeared there for several weeks. (Yeah, I know. I DID mention that it was petty!) Odd! This doesn't happen on mine. You have refreshed and/or rebooted right?
I'll call Ray's attention to this post for you, but I know he'd be interested in your answer to my question... Blessings, Marcia No one can do me a greater kindness in this world than to pray for me. --Charles Spurgeon |

Make sure you are logged in to the forum, too. I think LiveCloud has been updating things and sometimes I've been logged out without realizing it.

My GUESS is that the house lights are set up with cookies. If you clear your cookies, LiveCloud thinks it's your first visit to the Forum and then thinks everything is new. I have Firefox set to clear my cookies every time and the house lights are always on.

I've refreshed, rebooted, assured that I'm logged in, and haven't manually cleared my cookies in the last month or so. Since each and every house is not yet lit, I'm guessing that the cookies haven't been auto-cleared either. (I'll check my setting to be sure, though.)
Thanks everyone -- I think I'll chalk this up to another odd gremlin inhabiting my laptop. After all, the wacko issue that led to my change to Firefox only on the laptop wasn't happening to anyone else either. Apparently my laptop is mad at me for fixing one issue so it has thrown another, quite minor one at me! Thanks! Computers do that. I've seen it WAY too many times myself! |
