I am interested in hearing from those that schedule TOG Friday to Thursday instead of the traditional Monday to Friday.
I would love to see your schedule of how you do TOG this way. Thanks! Holly Rhetoric son Dialectic son Lower Grammar daughter Yr 3 DE |

Holly,
We schedule Thursday to Wednesday since our discussion group needs to meet on Wednesdays. It was really weird at first, but having a weekend in the middle of our school week has allowed the kids extra reading time which has been nice. They are both doing dialectic work. Although I still much prefer a Monday through Friday week, a unique schedule has worked just fine. As far as actually scheduling our school time, nothing really is different. I just had to think of the five school days as Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4, Day 5. I prefer to do geography on Day 1, and I assign history reading for Days 1 and 2. We'll often use the weekend for Lit reading, and save Worldview for Day 4 or 5. If we plan a fine arts project or some activity, it's almost always Day 5. Math, Bible and composition are daily subjects and we fit science and spelling in a couple of days each week. I hope this helps you a bit. It's still tough for me to wrap my grain around an unusual schedule when the rest of the world runs Mon-Fri. I will admit, if it weren't for the discussion group, I would be a M-F planner for sure! HA! Have a pleasant day, Jean |

We also do thurs to Wed. so that the older kids can have time to read on the weekend. We dont' have a tog co-op but with other homeschool groups it was jsut helpful to do it that way. Some weeks go better than others. And I too would prefer Mon-Friday but this okay for now. our first year we read everything but our 2nd year I pretty much stuck ot litertature and the history choices so that made it easier for us. This coming year I am adding a Rhetoric level student and seeing how she does with the reading/discussing/writing. I'm a little nervous about this level, actually I'm more like paniced.

We do our weekly planning on Friday afternoon, but the morning is spent wrapping up the end of the previous week.

Holly,
We schedule Friday through Thursday. We like Fridays to be a lighter day. Since my children (12, 10, 8, 4) love to read, that has an easier feel to it. Sometimes they finish reading over the weekend too. Here's our schedule: Friday: read for next week Monday: finish reading, writing assignment, start SAP questions and literature worksheets, start projects (if any) Tuesday: writing assignment, continue SAP and literature worksheet, timeline (if any), work on projects Wednesday: writing assignment, finish SAP and literature worksheet, geography, work on projects Thursday: finish writing assignment, discussion, evaluation, finish any projects, plan Hope that gives you some ideas!
