I'm not sure if we've yet posted it, so thanks for the question. In previous years, we have been supporting a start date on the first Monday two weeks before Labor Day. This year, the start date is therefore August 24!

In our newsletter on the 15th, we'll put in suggested vacation days to follow our supported deadlines through the year.

HTH!

Blessings,
Marcia

Thanks, Marcia, for the clear description of your support plans for the upcoming Y4 releases. It is very helpful!

It looks like that would make week 17 before a two week Christmas break, which would mean the last week of Unit 2 with unit tests would be after a significant break. I'd rather finish the unit before the break. We might work through Thanksgiving, maybe lightening up a little one week. That way we could be done with U2 before the Christmas break. Or maybe do half a week during Thanksgiving week and half a week right before Christmas; splitting the weeks in between (doing the first few days of a TOG week at the end of one calendar week, then finishing the TOG week by T or W the next week).

Does anyone have any other ideas?

Or isn't the break an issue for you?

Janet,

We had the same problem with scheduling this year, because Labor Day is later than normal. When I heard that the supplements would be completed in advance, rather than week by week, this gave us more options. At first, I thought the supplements would be ready in early Aug. So, we decided to start on Aug. 10 and trust that it will work out ok. Now that we know the target date is Aug. 24, we decided to go ahead and start, even though we didn't have everything we use for those first couple of weeks. By the end of the month, we should have everything for Unit 1.

For us, it was worth it to be able to finish 2 units before Christmas and take one week off between units 1 & 2. Especially with the Redesign schedule, it really serves our teachers to have that time to prepare for the next unit. The only other option I considered was to combine weeks, but that can be rather intense unless you omit portions. I would rather start without supplements than to skip some of it.

Those are my thoughts and why we are starting ahead of the schedule this year. We are also praying for those working hard on our behalf and trusting that we'll have everything we need when we need it.

Any other ideas for fitting in 2 units between Aug. 24 and the end of the year? I prayed about this for the past few months, because I really didn't want to start ahead of the schedule. God is always faithful, so I have decided not to stress about it and just see what happens.

Blessings,
Eia
