From Writing Assignmnents Week 3 Level 3-9:
How do I find "Define the parts of a complete sentence" in the Writing Aids? When I look in my Write Source 2000 I can find them on page 434-436 but nowhere in ToG's Writing Aids. (It was my understanding that the Writing Aids were to replace any previous WriteSource handbooks) Thank you for your help! "Praise be to the Lord, for he has heard my cry for mercy. The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song!" Psalm 28:6,7 (NIV) |

Hi,
You'll find this information under "Writing Sentences" in Writing Aids. Blessings, Dana C. in TN "Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants. I will proclaim the name of the Lord. Oh, praise the greatness of our God!" Deut. 32:2-4 |

Thank you for responding Dana; so does that mean that what we are really looking for is "Components" of a Sentence?
I ask because "Parts" (per Write Source) comprises Subject, Predicate, (and all their simple/complete/compound aspects) while "Components" is Capital Letter, Ending punctuations, Subject, Verb & Complete Thought. Thank you for clarifying this, I am not clear, Caryl "Praise be to the Lord, for he has heard my cry for mercy. The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song!" Psalm 28:6,7 (NIV) |

Hi,
It seems that Write Source gives a more general description as to the parts (or components) of a sentence. In Writing Aids, we add capital letter, ending punctuation, and complete thought, to subject and predicate (verb). So, yes, "components" and "parts" are the same thing. Blessings, Dana C. in TN "Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants. I will proclaim the name of the Lord. Oh, praise the greatness of our God!" Deut. 32:2-4 |
