I am teaching creative writing to middle school students in a homeschool co-op (6th-12th graders). (I have taught for years but not in this setting or this particular course.) I am considering using the "Writing Aids" as a stand-alone" resource for myself rather than using a dozen or so books and guides to plan my classes. If you have had experience with this resource, can you recommend it for this purpose, in this way? I will appreciate your thoughts.
Thanks, ~ linda

I can't answer your question from experience, although I can say that Writing Aids isn't topic-dependent and, it seems to me, could easily be used as a stand-alone resource.

I'm wondering, though, whether you'll run into copyright issues with the student notes. This is structured with a book for the teacher's use, and a CD with notes for the student, along with other resources. I like the combination, but you probably won't have permission to use this in a classroom setting with students who aren't using Tapestry of Grace. You might want to contact the ToG people about licensing issues in this situation.

I can't find copyright information in my copy of the Writing Aids book because they seem to have omitted the copyright notice there (oops!). But publications are still copyrighted even when the notice is lacking.

Writing Aids can definitely be used as stand-alone product, and we do have licesing options for students in a class who don't all own the product. Click here for our licensing page. Smiler

Thank you for responding. I especially appreciate the question and then Juli's answer about copyright/licensure (with the link). I am learning what to do that is right in this co-op teaching and do not want to learn the hard way. Thank you both!
