We have been using IEW themed based books and not using WA, but this year I am thiking of using WA instead of or in addition to IEW. Either way, I am a bit nervous about using WA with mutiple students/levels.

I'd love to hear from others that have a few different ages and levels using WA and how you make it work.

I had kids at 3 different "grade levels" this past year: 3, 4, and 6. I looked at the different writing assignments for each and picked ONE which the all did. Sometimes I even picked an assignment from a level we're not doing. Then, I evaluated them based on the writing level they should be at. For instance, we took the last 9 weeks of Year 2 and did a newspaper project. They each wrote 3-4 newspaper articles, and they also did advertisements and pictures (which were just extra things to make it more fun or for a "light" week). I typed it all up and printed it on 8 1/2 x 14 paper and we gave it to the grandparents and kept some for ourselves. The news articles were for 1 of their levels, but I just had them all do it.
