I was wondering if the Yr 3 "writing overview" will be posted by mid Aug. start date or can I look for it sooner?

Thanks for bumping this up! Yes, the writing overview will be available sooner than mid-August. It's nearly finished so it is possible that it will be up next week, but we have lots on our plates for next week, so possibly the week after.

I was just checking status on Yr 3 Writing Overview. I'm trying to estimate how many submissions I want to purchase for the Write at Home TOG tutor program,and the overview helps me do that.

I know you are getting a lot of things out right now. Thanks for any updated status you may have.

I just tried to sign up for the TOG WriteAtHome program, and they have discontinued it! They are doing a new thing that will be like it, but different, for anyone. Here's the email I received about it:

"We are happy to introduce, for the 2008-2009 school year, an exciting new program developed
in response to customer requests. Our Pay Per Paper Program (PPPP) offers you the talents of
our expert writing coaches with virtually unlimited flexibility.
With the PPPP, you can submit a single writing project of your choice, at any time, for thorough feedback and evaluation. By selecting one of our two program options, you can either receive comment and assessment on a final draft, or enlist the help of a writing coach through a
three-draft writing process."

It is more expensive per paper, but you only need to do it a paper at a time, instead of paying up front for 9, 18, or more papers.

Actually they haven't discontinued the program; it is called Tapestry Tutor and you can sign up until August 22. Apparently though, as you say, the program itself is on a pay per paper basis.

I tried to sign up, but I see no way to do that on the page you mentioned. So I emailed them and got the response that it no longer exists. Can you tell me how to sign up?

I talked to the Write At Home representative at a recent convention and he said the same thing the Dana is saying. There is another program intended to replace the Tapestry Tutor Program. I have the paperwork here with me in hand and the program that he is now recommending is the Pay Per Papaer Program. You will be able to sign up for this after the date that Dana provided (August 22nd I believe). He was aware that there is not currently anything on the website alluding to this.. this will come when the program is up and running.

His reasoning on this change was that many families who had signed up for this program were not getting in as many submissions as they had signed up for and that often times only 1 or 2 papers were being sent a year. I am not sure how this works out money-wise to the previous program but each paper will now run $18 (single draft evaluation)- $42 (three draft process) with a membership with additional cost for papers < 500 words. He said that it would be the same tutors evaluating the papers as before and that they are familiar with the Tapestry writing assignments.
