Has anyone used IEW in year 3 of Tapestry, and if so could you share some of your ideas for writing assignments? I have a dd in dialectic stage, and a ds in rhetoric (9th grade). They are not strong in writing, and we are already enjoying the IEW. I would just like to get some ideas of how to encorporate the two.

May not be the answer you want so take a breath and read ahead with an open mind.

STOP TOG writing. Do the IEW 15 week intensive that goes with the TWSS discs (downloadable for free). After you've finished this your children will be familiar with the methodology of IEW and will be able to use those discs as partners to handle TOG's writing.
After you stop the intensive (which btw you can begin tomorrow if you have the discs to watch and the intensive printed out) then you can go through your child's grade level and one below. PIck which of those two you feel they can handle and circle the assignments you want to try.
HOLD their hand, call IEW and tell them your assignment and ask (or post on the forums) about specific help for your assignment and be VERY gentle in your editing and comments for a while. Make them feel confident in writing.

It's been absolutely mindblowing the changes that have occured since we did this. I felt like I would waste valuable time stopping and doing the intensive. WRONG.

Could you explain to me what IEW or TWSS is in regards to writing? I too am having trouble with the TOG writing assignments for my Rhetoric level child.

IEW is a company that produces homeschool materials to help teach writing, google that and Andrew Pudewa and you should find the site.

The TWSS is a basic set of discs that teaches you, the teacher, to teach writing to your students.
