Hi,

We'll be starting the Easy Grammar Plus (for Jr. and Sr. High students) this year. I'm trying to figure out a schedule for my 9th grade son to do one "concept" or lesson per day, 4 or 5 days per week, over 36 weeks (approx.). I was planning to simply assign one workbook page per day, but I see that sometimes a lesson does not equal one page in the workbook - sometimes there is instruction, helpful hints, etc. and one "lesson" equals more than one page.

If you have worked out a daily assignment schedule for a high schooler using Easy Grammar Plus, would you please respond and let me know how you handled it?

Sincerely,

Beth Ann from WI

Dear Beth Ann,

I've made a schedule for Easy Grammar Plus. I'll attach it. Each line is a day, and I think it works out to 132 days. You may want to break some lessons up more than I did (my children have used EG for several years, so some of the concepts are review for them).

Dear Susan in La,

Thank you so much for the Easy Grammar Plus Schedule. That will save us so much time and provide a nice checklist. Thank you for sharing your hard work with us.

I see that you followed the author's suggestion on page 2 to follow the preposition unit with the punctuation and capitalization units. Then, the verb unit and then the remainder of the book in order. Do you know why she suggested that sequence?

The teacher and student in me is just curious,
Beth Ann

Dear Beth Ann,

Mrs. Phillips doesn't say why to teach the punctuation & capitalization units early in the year, but I assumed it was so the children could learn the rules & apply them to their writing throughout the school year. Otherwise, the children would learn the rules at the end of the school year, just in time for summer break. Smiler

Blessings,
