I have 2 questions regarding this book. First, I noticed that I received the 6th edition with my order, but TOG pages are from the 5th edition. Will there be updates made to the reading assignments to match the edition currently being sold.
Secondly, I noticed that not all of the Classical unit chapters are covered in Year 2. Are those that were omitted covered at the beginning of Year 3. Specifically I am looking at chapters 6-10 and 12 if I lined the pages up correctly. If they are not covered in Year 3, I want to add them on at the end of Year 2, but if they are covered in Year 3 I don't have to worry about it. Lisa |

Hi Lisa,
Yes, there will be updates and these will be posted on the Loom for you. And yes, the classical unit chapters continue into Year 3. Blessings, Dana C. in TN "Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants. I will proclaim the name of the Lord. Oh, praise the greatness of our God!" Deut. 32:2-4 |

I'm wondering if you have a listing of the assignments for years 2 and 3 by topic/title/subtitle, so those of us with different versions can find them in our version?

Hi,
The musicians being studied are listed in the learning threads under "Fine Arts/Activities" for each week on page 2. It's easy to figure out from there. Blessings, Dana C. in TN "Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants. I will proclaim the name of the Lord. Oh, praise the greatness of our God!" Deut. 32:2-4 |

Hi, Dana,
Well, sometimes it is, and sometimes it isn't. For example, in Week 23, It's listed on Reading Assignment p. 4 as "p. 112-118 (stop at "Claudio Monteverdi"), but there is nothing in either the Fine Arts and Activities Threads (p. 2, to which you referred me), nor in the Teacher's Notes pp. 59-60, which talk about ballet and baroque opera. I don't think this week is unique. Is there any way to get a comprehensive weekly listing of the composers being studied, so those of us with older/different versions/resources can follow along? Or am I missing it in the curriculum? Thanks for any help you can give. Blessings, jan |

Jan,
If you want to develop your own list of composers try http://www.classical.com/ You can sign up and listen for free to 1 minute tracks and they have a timeline that shows dates for different composers. Also you can search by period: medieval, renaissance, pre-classical, etc. I usually look at the dates listed for the timeline on page 6 of ToG and pick something from the time frame. In the past I have gotten CDs from the library, but now I will probably use classical.com. You can "google" a composer's name for bios or use your library for children's biographies, too. Hope this helps, Sharon Wife of David, Mom of Nathan (21), Mandie (19), Meg (13), Zeke (11), and Ike (8) |
