These activities/craft units called "Time Travelers" by Homeschool in the Woods looks awesome. They have four different units out now with more in the making. So far they have-
New World Explorers Colonial Life The American Revolution The Early 19th century I am thinking these are going to correlate great with the YR 2, which I am planning to start in the fall. They have everthing you need to make games, crafts, map activities, cooking, tons of stuff. It is similar to History pockets, but I think it looks even better. They are very well done. Check out their website or Knowledgequest.com I would love any input if anyone has tried these and where you inserted the activities and projects, etc. thanks! Elizabeth |

Hi, This is so funny, we are looking into doing these in our co-op next year. We did the Explorers one a few years back, they are excellent! The maps are a little challenging for younger children, we are looking to divide up into groups and each family will work on one complete set. The youngest children will do the color pages, older will do the writing pages, oldest the maps, etc..Everyone will do the crafts and enjoy the food. We are hoping to get through 3 of them in a year, not sure the logistics of that, we are working on planning that all out. Amy Pak the author is a very, very talented lady! and a very sweet one I may add, we met a few years back at Living History Camp in Jumonville, PA.

We have used New World Explorers and are working through colonial Life. They are a good supplement but will require planning and time to use effectively with Tapestry. A second possiblity is to use the lapbooks that go along with the Tapestry units.

Looking at my previous e-mail I need to add that we have loved the activities with the Time Travelers. It takes extra time to a busy schedule. Some of the New World Explorer can be used in Unit 3 and we have used Lesson 1 in the American Revoltuion unit in Unit 3 because they lined up nicely. It is a great supplement and has great hands on activities. I love their Colonial Cookbook and how it complements the Tapestry Readings.
