We have just begun Unit 3 of Year 2, and my daughter has chosen the timeline project to do for her longterm project. Why has she chosen this project? Well, my wonderful daughter, who is so very gifted and talented and a joy to be with, does have more than her fair share of the "lazies" sometimes. She systematically reviewed each project and chose the one with the least amount of work. Since we ALREADY do a timeline, making it her long-term project was a no-brainer for her. So...I have to spice up the timeline!!

I would love any suggestions to do to add to the timeline and make it a more in-depth project. Some ideas I already have are to (1) add maps to the timeline as needed for each colony (2) if I can find them, add short quotes from the people on the timeline. Idea #2 sounds the hardest, as I don't know how easy it will be to find actual quotes from many of the people.

Any other ideas?

Thank you!
Deanna

Hi Deanna,
How about making an accordion timeline out of poster board?...it would likely take several posters if she wants it (or you want her to Wink )to be highly visual and contain lots of information. I like the maps idea. She could do quotes from at least one of the people studied in each week-plan. She could use symbols to represent something about each colony. For instance, she could have an image of cotton for Georgia.

Let us know how it turns out!

I will proclaim the name of the Lord.
Oh, praise the greatness of our God!"

The real gem of your idea is the folding posters...because we'll be moving in about a month! Not only does it allow for a more spicy timeline, it sure will be easier to transport. Thanks for the GREAT suggestion.

I'll let you know how it turns out. Maybe the end result of her "lazies" will be Mommy forcing her towards a masterpiece!
