Hi everyone, I pray for God's blessing and encouragement on all your families and your school year.

I am starting Y2 redesign. I'm trying to figure out the Weekly Overview pages. They must not be something to hand off to each child because it isn't in the Loom CD. So is it more for me? It has the list of people to learn about, vocabulary, dates for timeline, and geography places though. Shouldn't those be needed by each child? The wording is also directed to the student. I think I'm missing something Confused . How do you use the Weekly Overview pages?

Thank you for your help.

Hi!

I print out one copy of the Weekly Overview pages, highlight the things I want my children to learn/do, and hang it on the bulletin board for them to refer to during the week.

HTH!

I use it for myself to get an overview of the week. It helps me determine which of the history questions in the SAPs to concentrate on, especially if we are having a short week or have been beset by illness, etc. It also provides a skeleton for me to hang information on as I next begin to plow through the teacher pages!

TOG's website says, "Older students read these pages so that they can participate in choosing their week’s activities, with your guidance." I don't know why they're not included on the Loom, as having those in easy to reproduce format would be nice. I use them with all my levels. I only have LG and UG, but they use the people and vocabulary lists, and my UG knows we will discuss all the points from both the UG and LG sections under Student Threads.

So, I consider them to be pages that help the student and I utilize them accordingly. I also run off a copy of each week's Overview and give it to my UG student. My LG will be in 2nd grade, but will be a VERY YOUNG 2nd grader. We just moved, and in our previous state she would just be a first grader this year. Our new state, however, has a later cut-off date for entering first grade. So, she's a young 2nd grader and I'm not sure how much I'll utilize the sheets. I'll probably increase how much I utilize them with her as the year progresses. My UG was in 3rd grade last year, but was an advanced 3rd grader, so she used the sheets all year with no problems. She knew to refer to them to help her get her work done.

Use them as you wish and see fit!
