I would like to do overlay maps this year but am having trouble finding anyplace cheaper than $16/100. Does anyone know of a cheaper place?

Someone on the forum suggested using heavy-duty page protectors instead of transparencies. They are a bit lighter weight than real transparencies, but they work, and they are much less expensive.

You can slide your base map in, do the work in Sharpie or wet-erase marker (Vis-a-Vis, NOT dry-erase - dry-erase smudges badly), pull the map out and flip it over, use the other side, and then cut them apart. Voila! Two "transparencies" for the price of a page protector!

It's not perfect, but it costs so much less than transparencies that I'm going to do it anyway this year. I tried it myself a few days ago and it produced nice results (though a bit on the flexible side).
